NONGSTOIN: As part of KJP Synod Sepngi which is scheduled to take place at New Nongstoin from March 6, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District and the Dorbar Shnong of New Nongstoin and Upper New Nongstoin organized a cleaning drive at Nongstoin town and other adjoining villages on Monday.

The cleaning drive saw an active participation of all the shop owners, youths and students from various Schools in Nongstoin.

The drive, an initiative of the District Administration was a success as people from all walks of life came out from their homes and participated in the cleaning drive.

The drive which was mainly aimed at cleaning the Nonbah River saw people with locally made rafts floating the length and breadth of the river cleaning the garbage that was strewn across the river and were dumped by shops adjacent to the river.
