After the success of his latest film Highway where he played the role of a kidnapper, actor Randeep Hooda wants to take a break from doing dark roles as he feels they affect his mood.
“Due to the roles I play people think I’m too serious and cranky. (Doing such roles) is very hard on you as one has to go through those emotions. It affects your life as well as the people around you,” Randeep told PTI. “I want to try other genres as well. I want to make people laugh. ‘Highway’ was my first attempt towards a bit of a comic role,” he added.
The 40-year-old actor, who has made a name for himself by starring in films like Risk, D, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster.
The Imtiaz Ali film that saw Randeep play a kidnapper who develops empathy for the girl he has kidnapped earned the actor praise for his performance. Randeep reveals that there was a time during the shooting of the film that he became depressed.
“It was a little hard role and I was quite depressed. Co-star Alia Bhatt had to make me smile after I did not talk to her for 35 days. She helped me in cheering up,” he said. “Such things happen with roles. Whenever I see the movie, I get a little depressed,” he added.
Post Highyway, Randeep has been busy filming for various upcoming releases. He would be next seen in Main Aur Charles, where he plays serial killer Charles Sobhraj.
“After winding up Highway, I have been shooting ‘Kick’. ‘Shooter’ is about to complete, and ‘Ungli’ releases in May,” he said.
Filming for Salman Khan starrer Kick has been a joy ride for the actor. The movie which is directed by Sajid Nadiadwala also has Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead. ”Doing Kick was quite enjoyable. Salman is a nice person and we have a very good director. It is probably the biggest role I have so far. I’m not playing a villain. It is a love triangle,” he said.
Randeep got to share the screen space with a superstar in Kick. Although the actor had no nervousness about working with Salman.
“No I wasn’t nervous. Salman is a very nice person. No doubt he is a superstar. He is a great human being. Kick’ is the biggest movie of my career. It’s a huge canvas. If you got a integral part to play in a Salman Khan movie, that’s what an actor dreams of,” he added. (PTI)
