Sales XI, 1st MLP win in corporate cricket

SHILLONG: In the opening match of the SCA Corporate Cum Office League, Sales XI and 1st MLP both won their respective matches at the Cricket Ground, Polo, on Thursday.

While Sales XI defeated Traffic Police by four wickets, 1st MLP won by 74 runs over Raj Bhawan.

The traffic cops won the toss and elected to bat first, but were bowled out for 102 in 19.3 overs.

Pawan scored 26 runs, while Kalyan took a stunning 4/9 in 3.3 overs.

In the chase, Sales XI reached the target in 18.3 overs, but not without first losing six wickets in the process. Kalyan scored 31 runs at almost a run a ball, while Sanborlang bagged 2/19 in 3.3 overs.

The second match of the day saw 1st MLP win the toss and choose to bat first.

They put up a commanding score of 174/4 in the allotted 20 overs.

Kumar Sewa top-scored with a fine 89 from 66 balls, while Wanpynskhem Mawroh was the best of the bowlers, taking 2/26 in four overs.

In reply, Raj Bhawan could only manage 100 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.

Dinesh Pradhan scored 39 runs from 40 deliveries, while Kumar Sewa returned with the ball to take a brace of wickets for five runs in three overs.

On Friday, 6th MLP will play Veterinary at 9:00am, while MeECL play Secretariat at 12 noon.
