Prohibition

lThe District Magistrate, South West Khasi Hills has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting the carrying of licensed arms and other lethal weapons and indulging in any kind of activity by some members of the public that may vitiate the smooth free and fair conduct of elections in the district.

lThe District Magistrate has also prohibited carrying of cash amounting of Rs 50,000 adding that if anyone violates, the act is liable to be punished and will be seized.

Camp

The District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills, Shillong has informed that the Election Commission of India has directed to hold a Special Camp on March 15 for enrolment of left out voters or whose names has been wrongly deleted during the last Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to January 1 as qualifying date. All the Booth Level Officers will be available at their respective Polling Stations from March 10 -15. The general public are hereby requested to check their names in the current Electoral Rolls during the aforesaid mentioned dates.

Women’s Day

Along with the rest of the world, International Women’s Day was celebrated at Nongkrem (Iing Balieh) organized by the Meghalaya State Social Welfare Board, Shillong sponsored by Central Social Welfare Board at Community Hall Warbah, Nongkrem. The theme was ‘inspiring changes’.
