SHILLONG: As Lok Sabha elections are approaching, the Congress party is now shifting its focus to the bigger elections since the party did not perform as expected in the district council elections to the KHADC.

Speaking to reporters, Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) working president Deborah Marak refused to admit that the party performed bad while adding that the party got the most number of the seats while regional parties did not perform well.

According to Marak, the party would perform well in the upcoming election as district council elections and Lok Sabha elections are totally different. Asserting that the Congress has its own mechanism to work, she said that the stand of the party on ILP would not be detrimental in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls since each constituency has its own issues.
