Kolkata: Former Meghalaya Governor Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary has joined the Trinamool Congress, according to party national general secretary Mukul Roy.

Roy told reporters on Sunday that apart from Mooshahary, Odhisa Congress leader Arya Kumar Gyanendra and former Jharkhand minister Chandrasekhar Dubey have also joined the party.

“We are in talks with a lot of people from different parts of the country. We want to participate in the general elections from a number of places. TMC will soon become a national party,” Roy said.

He also announced that the party would fight from some Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, where it already has an MLA.

Roy said that Mooshahary, Dubey and Gyanandra would boost the party’s presence in their respective states.

Mooshahary, a native of Assam and a former IPS officer of Kerala cadre, was the DGP of Kerala, NSG and BSF and was the Governor of Meghalaya after retirement from service. (PTI)
