SHILLONG: The Shillong Press Club lost their second consecutive match in the SCA Corporate Cum Office League by 61 runs to the Shillong Traffic Police.

Electing to bat first, the traffic cops made a total of 155/4 in their allotted 20 overs, with Vikash Gurung top-scoring with 41 runs. Neeraj took 1/23 in his four overs.

The SPC could then only reply with 94 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs, falling a few runs short of what would have been a morale-boosting 100.

Wanlambok took 4/5 in four overs, while Pradip Thapa bagged 3/17 in his four.

Despite being defeated, the pressmen did at least bat their full 20 overs and also restricted their opponents to under eight an over.

They also promised an improved effort in the next match, which will be against Raj Bhawan on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in the first match of the day, Sales XI defeated Raj Bhawan by 41 runs.

Sales XI won the toss and chose to bat first.

They put up a total of 147/4 in 20 overs. Bappon Dutta provided a large bulk of the runs – 60 from 46 deliveries.

Mukesh Thakur took 2/27 in four overs.

In reply, Raj Bhawan were all out for just 106 in 18.4 overs.

Robin Chettri made 20 runs, while Kalyan claimed figures of 3/13 in four overs.
