SHILLONG: Twenty Meghalaya girls, who were taken to Tamil Nadu by Laisynshar Cultural Society with the consent of their parents but without obtaining necessary permission from the State Child Welfare Committee, would be brought to Shillong on March 13.

A formal reception to welcome the girls will be held at U Soso Tham auditorium at 1 pm on that day.

The brining back of the girls back to the state became possible after the Madras High Court directed the Tamil Nadu Child Welfare Committee to handover 20 children from Meghalaya, rescued from an unlicensed NGO and currently under its custody, to the Chief Secretary of the state.
