Education scam
SHILLONG: There is a concern over Assembly Speaker AT Mondal disallowing a discussion on the education scam in the Assembly.
In a statement issued on Thursday, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that after the High Court passed an order on August 16, 2012, asking the Government to initiate an action against the illegal recruitment, it is expected that the Government should act on the order.
“There was no appeal against this order of the Court and so, there can be discussions on the floor of the House, and moreover public interest warrants a debate when hundreds of candidates were affected and criminal acts were perpetrated by legislators”, Kharshiing said.
According to Kharshiing, the misleading of facts in the floor of the House is shocking and such persons should not be public servants and moreover, bureaucrats who are misleading the representatives of people should be exposed.
“The Law Department should clarify on this and spell out the clear instructions of the High Court order of August 16, 2012 and the Law Minister should spell it out in the Assembly”, Kharshiing said.
Kharshiing said hiding behind a legal term, misinterpreting it and misleading the public is a violation of the Constitution.
