SHILLONG: A PHC under Mawlai has been left unattended as the doctor posted there has gone on maternity leave for three months, causing severe inconveniences to those in need of medical attention.
The matter came to light when Mawlai legislator Embhahlang Syiemlieh raised a supplementary question in the Assembly on Friday saying that the patients are the worst affected in the absence of any  doctor at Mawksiatkhnam PHC.
In his reply, Health Minister AL Hek admitted that no doctor was available at the PHC since the appointed doctor had gone on maternity leave for three months.
