TURA: The United Christian Peace Forum (UCPF) has appreciated the offer of peace by the GNLA in response to the speech made by the Governor of Meghalaya on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations at Shillong.
“We the common people welcome such a peace move with hope and positive mind. The State and the Central Government should act immediately for peace talks. Such offer of peace should not be rejected,” the Forum stated in a release.
It may be reminded that the UCPF had submitted memorandums a number of times in the past to the government to initiate peace talks while also at the same time appealing to various militant groups in the region to give peace a chance and return to the mainstream.
This time too the forum has appealed to the government to accept the offer of peace by the GNLA and urged other militant organizations to join the bandwagon for the greater interest of the people of Garo Hills as a whole.
