SHILLONG: Congress MDCs from Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) were denied an audience with Rahul Gandhi in Shillong on Tuesday when the AICC vice president was having an interaction with party functionaries. The MDCs were left possibly unhappy, though may not be angry.
Altogether 13 MDCs from JHADC, including its Chief Executive Member, were not allowed to enter the State Convention Centre where Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to address party workers and functionaries.  JHADC CEM Thombor Shiwat said that the delegation of MDCs was informed by Special Protection Group  that there was no seat left for them inside the hall as the hall was packed to capacity.
Saddened at not being allowed, all the Congress MDCs of JHADC returned to Jaintia Hills in the same evening. When asked if they were unhappy, the CEM said they were not angry at all.
Meanwhile, during the meeting with the party leaders Rahul highlighted the policies of UPA government. He asked partymen to work hard to ensure the victory of Congress candidates in Meghalaya.
Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma assured that Congress would win both the seats in the state.
MPCC chief DD Lapang recalled the contributions of Congress in achieving Statehood.
Shillong candidate Vincent Pala offered vote of thanks.
