SHILLONG: The Shillong Press Club made it four losses in four as they were beaten by 63 runs at the hands of Sales XI in an SCA Corporate Cum Office League match at the Cricket Ground, Polo, on Tuesday.
Electing to bat first, Sales XI scored a massive 156/8 in 18 overs, with Manojit Ghosh providing 39 runs and Sanjit Deb 37.
Neeraj Rana and Aafaque Hussain took three wickets each for 22 and 42 runs, respectively.
In reply, the scribes could only rack up a total of 93 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 18 overs.
Paras top-scored with 29 runs, while Tapash Das bagged 2-13 in his four overs.
The second match of the day was an all-police affair.
The Shillong Traffic Police rode on the all-round effort of Wallambok Nongkhlaw as they defeated 1st MLP by four wickets.
1st MLP won the toss and decided to bat first, but could only post 115 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Kumar Sewa top-scored with 33 runs, while Nongkhlaw claimed three wickets for 16 runs in four overs.
Nongkhlaw then scored 50 runs off 42 balls as the traffic cops chased down the required runs for the loss of six wickets in 19.5 overs.
Horen Brahma took 4-12 in four overs for the losing team.
The league stage concluded, STP will play 6th MLP in the first semifinal on Wednesday at 9:00am, while 1st MLP take on MeECL at 12 noon on the same day.
