SHILLONG: NPP legislator James K Sangma has questioned the delay on the part of the Education department to finalise the much awaited Education Policy.
“It has been six years since the policy was conceptualized. But sadly the Policy has not seen the light of the day,” Sangma said during Question Hour in the Assembly on Tuesday.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister in charge Education Prof. RC Laloo said that the Policy was under the process of being approved.
“After incorporating the views and suggestion of the various stakeholders, we would place it before the Cabinet for approval,” Prof. Laloo said.
Replying to a supplementary question of Sangma, the Deputy Chief Minister informed that it has been six months since they uploaded the draft of the policy on the official website of the department asking stakeholders to solicit their views and opinions.
Reacting to this reply, the NPP legislator suggested that the department should find out other ways and means to enable stakeholders to submit their views and suggestion.
