First level randomization of EVMs held in Jowai

JOWAI: The first level randomization of Electronic Voting Machines was held on Friday in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Jowai in the presence of the District Election Officer, PS Dkhar IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election) S S Syiemlieh, SDO (Civil) Amlarem, N A K Syiem and B J Kharshandi, EAC.

Representatives of various Political parties including the INC, BJP, NPP and HSPDP participated in the process. The District Election Officer informed the representatives the first randomization is done to maintain transparency and separates the EVMs to be used for Training and for Election.

Altogether 225 EVMs have been projected and 14 to be used for training for 225 polling stations in West Jaintia Hills district, 42 EVMs for 1-Nartiang, 42 EVMs for 2-Jowai, 43 EVMs for 3-Raliang, 40 EVMs for Mowkaiaw and 58 EVMs for 7-Amlarem Assembly Constituencies. The randomization was done through computer software.

The District Election Officer informed the Political party representatives that the second randomization would be held on March 25.
