JOWAI: A person identified as Prakash Tamang died on reaching the Hospital while four others sustained critically injuries in a road mishap that took place at the National Highway NH-44 (Jowai Shillong Road) near Thadlaskein Lake on Sunday afternoon.
Two of the injured persons have been identified as Kesar Karki, Yukraj Kotwal. All were coal mine employees.
Sources informed that the deceased and his friends were traveling from Soo-kilo (Sutnga area) in a Maruti Gypsy and while proceeding towards Shillong, on reaching Thadlaskein Lake, a truck coming on the opposite direction hit their vehicle.
Police said the Maruti Gypsy was over speeding and the driver lost control over the vehicle.
