Shillong riders dominate motocross championship

SHILLONG: Riders from Shillong claimed several top finishes in the Northeast Motocross Championship 2014, which was held in Guwahati on Sunday.

Motocross is a type of motorbike racing held on defined off-road courses.

The event was organised by the North Guwahati Riders Association and saw the participation of 60 people, including around 30 from Shillong, six of whom took top-3 finishes.

The championship was held in four categories – Novice, Expert, Four Stroke and Open Class.

The Expert category was won by Anthony Lyngdoh, with Eugene Niangti taking first place in the Open Class.

The Four Stroke division was won by Poamin Vaipei, with Niangti coming second and Danny Thangkiew third.

Shillong was not left out of the Novice event either, with Tony Mawlong and Vianny Nongrum bagging second and third places, respectively.
