SHILLONG: Opposition leader in the KHADC, Pynshngain N Syiem, has suggested the need for the Council to have its own appointment policy.
“By having our own appointment policy, we would be able to regulate and streamline the appointments being made in the Council,” Syiem said during Question Hour on the first day of the KHADC budget session here on Wednesday.
He also urged the Executive Committee (EC) to come up with a draft of the policy.
In his reply, KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said that the EC would examine his proposal. Basaiawmoit, while admitting that there were discrepancies in the appointments and regularization of the staff in the KHADC, said, “I have recently received a representation on the favouritism being shown to certain staff. I have been told that many senior staffs have been superseded by juniors due to arbitrary regularization policies,” Basaiawmoit said.
The CEM also asserted that the new EC was committed to correct all these lapses.
