Agartala: Expressing confident over the victory of Congress led anti-left combine in the coming Lok Sabha elections, PCC president DC Hrangkhawl on Wednesday strongly advocated for empowerment of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Giving instance of weakness of TTAADC, he said of late the tribal council’s chief Ranjit Debbarma has sought 1000 government employees on deputation to the TTAADC to carry out various administrative works.
“In stead of seeking employees from the state government, the tribal council authority could initiate a fresh process for recruitment of 1000 staff. People living in trial council areas will be benefited if the ADC authority moves on for fresh appointment”, he said while speaking a Meet the Press programme at Agartala Press Club here.
Hrangkhawl alleged the Left Front has always been ‘inactive’ in promoting Kokborok language in the state. “It has failed to enrich the tribal language even after staying at the helm for long years”, he said.
He also slammed the Left Front for pushing the tribal people in bleak future. “ Overall development will not be possible without uplifting the socio-economic condition of indigenous people”, he said.
On being asked about the party poll prospect, he replied, “We are confident of winning both Lok Sabha seats though people will choose whom they want to hand over the baton”.
Claiming that the Congress has fielded two ‘right’ candidates for West Tripura and East Tripura Lok Sabha constituencies- Arunoday Saha and Sachitra Debbarma in the ensuing election, PCC working president alleged two Left Front MPs were hardly seen in the Parliamentary speaking for the interest of the state.
Terming them ‘sleeping MPs’, he said “What is the need of having such MPs who remain mute spectator in the Parliament? If Congress candidates are voted to win the elections, they will be able to speak in the Parliament for the people of the state”.
