Manipur man assaulted, wife molested in New Delhi

New Delhi : In yet another case of attack on people from the northeastern region in the national capital, an army personnel from Manipur was assaulted on Tuesday night and his wife allegedly molested in Munirka area of Delhi.

The accused were the landlord and his son, the issue was a trivial one. According to the police, the 27-year-old victim had only asked from his landlord an extra key of the main gate of the house as his mother-in-law was supposed to arrive late in the night.

The request was turned down, which was followed by a spat, culminating into an assault.

In his complaint, the victim said he was assaulted by his landlord and his son. Besides, his wife was also molested by his landlord’s son after an argument broke out between them. The injured couple were taken to a nearby hospital and discharged after first aid.

The Delhi police lodged a case under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and also clamped charges of assault and molestation.
