SHLLONG: The UDP has questioned the Returning Officer for Shillong Lok Sabha seat, Sanjay Goyal, for the charges leveled against the party candidate Paul Lyngdoh without arriving at a final decision.

The Returning Officer after examining a new report and a letter appeared in vernacular dailies and an advertisement posted in a city-based news portal concluded that Lyngdoh had violated the model code of conduct under the category of ‘paid news’.”It appears to be unethical on the part of the Returning Officer to take matters which are subject of appeal in the public domain which further insinuates wrong doing even before the matter is put before a proper authority or adjudicated,” UDP general secretary Allan Dkhar said on Thursday.

According to the UDP leader, the party has nothing more to say on the matter.
