New Delhi: IPL franchises pledged support on Monday to Sunil Gavaskar for a successful hosting of the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League, starting on April 16 in the UAE.

Gavaskar, who is the interim head of the BCCI for conducting the league, met the teams on Monday and briefed them on the preparations for the upcoming season.

According to the BCCI, Gavaskar had a discussion with the franchises on conducting the T20 league.

“The franchises shared their views and extended their support and cooperation for a successful Pepsi IPL 2014,” a BCCI release said.

Gavaskar was pushed into the job following a Supreme Court directive.

The first leg of the IPL will be held in UAE from April 16-30 due to general elections in India. (PTI)
