Ex- registrar of CMJ varsity held

SHILLONG: Police on Tuesday arrested former registrar of CMJ University Tilok Das Gupta.

Gupta, who hails from Laban, was arrested after police established his involvement in issuing fake marksheet.

Though he had joined the university in October, 2011, sources said police came across some marksheets which were issued by him in December, 2010.

Sources informed that that the former registrar issued marksheets within two months after the university started its operation in the State.

It may be mentioned that the university started to function in October, 2010.

According to sources, Gupta left CMJ University in June, 2012. Presently, he is the legal adviser of NEHU.

Meanwhile, the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Shillong remanded Gupta to four days of police custody.

Gupta would be produced in court on April 5.
