SHILLONG: The BJP State unit has slammed the Congress party for failing to bring any development in Meghalaya.
Addressing a rally recently in the city, BJP candidate from Shillong Lok Sabha seat, Shibun Lyngdoh, had said that the sitting Congress MP Vincent H Pala had made tall claims of cleaning the Umiam reservoir, without taking any steps to the effect.
Lyngdoh went on to say that the sitting MP and the State Government were claiming of saving Wahumkhrah river through a Central project but till date the river continues to flow in its sorry state and is dying a ‘slow death’.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had raised concerns on the death of Nido Tania in New Delhi, but he did not raise any concern when two people had been burnt alive in Shillong, Lyngdoh said.
Lyngdoh also pointed out that a Narendra Modi fever has gripped the country including Shillong and expressed confidence that BJP would form the new Government at the Centre.
He reminded that for the BJP the North East and its problems was a special case.
The party has planned similar rallies in different parts of the State ahead of the April 9 election.
