SHILLONG: As part of the Khasi National Awakening day observations, East Khasi Hills district administration has allowed the KSU to take out a procession from Shillong Polytechnic, Mawlai to Jaiaw Shyiap-Lumpyllon community hall on April 4.
The KSU is scheduled to observe this day throughout Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
“We have given them permission to take out the procession,” Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal informed on Wednesday.
He said that they have been given only half an hour time for the procession even as informing that they have been ask to sign an undertaking to ensure that there is no law and order problem.
Meanwhile, KSU general secretary Auguster Jyrwa informed that they have shifted the timing of the procession from 3 pm to 1 pm.
The day is observed to remember the supreme sacrifice made by the legendary freedom fighter ‘U Tirot Sing’ who sacrificed his life for the cause of the nation and took up his fight on April 4, 1829 against the British to do away with their rule.
