Man lost at sea while performing beach baptism

Undated: A man swept out to sea by seven-foot waves during an oceanside baptismal ceremony in California on Sunday remained missing a day later as hopes faded he would be found alive, officials said on Monday. US Coast Guard spokesman Adam Stanton said three men were initially washed away by the surf while performing the religious ceremony, held on the shore of the Rancho Guadalupe Dunes Preserve in the small Santa Barbara County city of Guadalupe. Washington: A couple from Virgina has won the lottery for the third time in a month. Calvin and Zatera Spencer from Portsmouth had earlier won 1 million dollars in the Powerball drawing and then 50,000 dollars in the Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game, USA Today reported. The couple has now won 1 million dollars in the Virginia Lottery Scratcher of 100 Million dollars Cash Extravaganza. Calvin Spencer has claimed that they aren’t finished yet. (ANI)

Teen shatters longest video game marathon world record

Washington: A teenage girl broke the world record for longest video game marathon on a massively multiplayer online role-playing game on Sunday. Kinumi Cati spent 30 hours 31 minutes playing World of Warcraft in a continuous play session and broke the old mark of 24 hours. The Guinness World Record Attempt took place in “Hotel Tryp Galeones” (Vigo, Galicia). There were six witnesses present during the record, including a video game expert. (ANI)

 

Abandoned 27 yrs ago, ‘Burger King Baby finds mom

PHILADELPHIA : A woman abandoned as a newborn 27 years ago in an Allentown, Pennsylvania, fast-food restaurant bathroom has been reunited with her birth mother after a social media blitz, local media reported tosday. Katheryn Deprill, left in the Burger King bathroom only hours after she was born, met her birth mother on Monday in a lawyer’s office, she told WFMZ television in an interview. (Reuters)

 

Woman, dead 6 months, found in front of TV

BERLIN: The corpse of a 66-year-old German woman who died more than six months ago was found in her apartment, in front of a television set that was still on, the Frankfurter Neue Presse newspaper reported. The woman, in the town of Oberursel near Frankfurt, died of natural causes in a nightgown while watching TV. There was a programme guide from September nearby, the newspaper said. (Reuters)

 

Indian-origin magistrate in UK under fire for rifle picture

LONDON: Pressure is piling on an Indian-origin magistrate in the UK to resign after a picture of his holding an automatic rifle became public. The picture of politician Ajit Atwal was clicked while he was on a holiday to India earlier this year. The image has been removed from Atwal’s Twitter feed. Though Derby Liberal Democrat Atwal feels he is a victim of a smear campaign in the run-up to May, when he stands for re-election as Liberal Democrat councillor for Abbey ward in Derby, the politician of Indian origin has apologized for his actions.
