Agartala: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Benarjee had to stay back in Agartala on Tuesday night, as she could not afford to hire a chopper to travel southern town of Tripura Shantirbazar about 100 km from Agartala, said local Trinamool leaders here on Wednesday.

While addressing a party rally at Shantirbazar, Mamata said, she had to opt out chopper ride, since she couldn’t afford it.

“I wanted to travel by helicopter as that would have saved time. It takes two-and-a-half hours to travel by road from the airport to the meeting venue. However, I backed out after being asked to pay Rs 76 lakh,” she said. (UNI)
