SHILLONG:  Election Commission of India (ECI) youth icons, the Shillong Chamber Choir will perform on April 7 at Khyndailad from 6:30 pm – 8pm.
A music video, “Just One,” commissioned by the Chief Electoral Officer Meghalaya was made to inspire and create awareness on voting rights for the coming Lok Sabha elections schedule for April 9 next.
The ECI and its state counterpart (Contd on P-10)  the chief election officers have pulled all the stops to ensure high voter turn-out. The video urges voters to fulfill their constitutional duties and to cast their votes.
The video, “Just One” commissioned by Mr P Naik, Chief Electoral Officer  has not only captured the attention of the people of Meghalaya but even create ripples at the national level. Several leading news dailies like the The Hindu,  Times of India and Mid-day, amongst others have done a story on the video.
The music video which features the Shillong Chamber Choir also includes other young people from different walks of life. Their message is simple and clear – Come out and vote. Every vote counts and so ‘Just One’ vote when put together can make a difference between who wins and who loses.
Speaking about the video to The Shillong Times, Neil Nongkynrih, the Music Director said, “I love the youthful vigour and the positive feel that the video sends out. But the most poignant moment in the video for me was the moment when the there was no music; when we saw the deaf and dumb children from Bethany Society also take part in the music video. They spoke in sign language  urging the people of Meghalaya to come out to vote.”
Directed by Maheep Dhillon the video is produced by Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya Mr. P. Naik with Assistant Director Fourness Dhar. Executive Producer, Shillong Chamber Productions, Damon Lyndem and Bollywood Director, Rajesh Mapuskar supervised the videography.
Referring to the first video of the Shillong Chamber Productions, Neil Nongkynrih said the beauty of the video is not in the actual final product but entire experience of filming it. The entire crew had positive vibes. “There were wonderful memories of our time together. Those who participated said they would never forget their time together. I feel this video has lifted the standard of music videos in this region,” Neil stated.
The video captured the various beauty spots of Shillong and the surrounding parts also. Scenes were shot at Ward’s Lake, Lady Hydari Park, Golf Links and Laitlum. ” The music video is so  beautiful that NDTV, CNN IBN and IBN7 channels are wanting to relay the video and even CNN International had wanted to do a cover story on this video.
The lyrics go : I stumbled, now I stand/ Alone or in a crowd, I song out loud/ Time I took charge, Fall in line while there’s still time/Question marks all around/ Grab the answers and bring them to the ground/ The road’s a maze for sure/ But the key is you and me/ We know responsibility/ It takes just one.
