Agartala : With barely 24 hours to go for the election to the prestigious West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, the entire election machineries have fully geared up to conduct the polling free, fair and peaceful.
Polling personnel along with polling materials have left for their destinations- polling booths to conduct the polling without any trouble.
The polling would begin on Monday at 7 pm and will continue till 5 pm.
“Polling personnel for all the eight Assembly constituencies have already reached their destinations to conduct the election tomorrow and there has been no problem”, said Asst Returning Officer (ARO) Manik Lal Das.
After the polling, all the EVMs would be kept into strong room housed at UK School and other subdivisional headquarters.
Reports from other subdivisions confirmed, polling personnel along with polling materials reached their respective polling booths without any trouble.
On the other hand, the security measures have been tightened not only poll bound areas but also in the entire state.
Security personnel including CAPFs have already started their operational activities to ensure peaceful elections.
According to police, of the total 3092 booths, only 20 and 444 polling stations have been identified as A and B respectively where tight security would be ensured.
While one section CAPFs would be engaged to guard A categories while half section CAPF would man B category booths on the day of polling booths.
The state received 30 companies of CAPF for the Parliamentary election purpose.
In the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat, the number of voters stands at 12.46 lakh and out of which male and female are 6,12,092 and 5,58,268 respectively.
CAPF jawans are deployed to guard all 24 strong rooms across the state. After the polling also, the number of strong rooms/ counting halls would also put under tight security layer.
DGP C. Balasubramanian said During the day of poll, the police authority has separate arrangement in mind an dfor first time police sector officers would be engaged to oversee the election process and each such officer is supposed to cover 8/9 polling stations.
