Rape

On April 6 around 2.30 am, one Teriglash M. Momin (43) raped an eleven-year-old girl in his residence at Nangaburi village (NGH). Police arrested the accused.

On March 30 around 1 am, one boy (16) raped one eighteen year old pregnant woman at Mawriang village (EKH). Police arrested the accused.

Assault

On April 6 one Komarson Marak assaulted Kuben Sangma at Rangdapara village under Dalu PS (WGH). As a result, the victim died on the spot. Necessary formalities were observed and the cadaver was sent to Tura Civil Hospital for post mortem.

On April 6 around 4 pm, one Aloyan Nongsiej, driver of Maruti Alto tourist taxi (ML-06-5668) assaulted the driver of one dumper truck (ML-07B-2241) belonging to M/s BSC C&C JV at Umjei village (WKH). Later, the driver of the dumper truck lost control of the vehicle and dashed against a hillock. The truck driver sustained injuries and was shifted to CHC Mairang.

On April 6 around 1.30 am, unidentified miscreants assaulted Balu Ch. Singh in Tango Bar at Police Bazar, Shillong.

On April 6 around 7 pm, unidentified miscreants numbering around 10-12 assaulted Shamin Ahmed at Army Supply Depot, Cantonment Shillong.

Highway robbery

Titomoni Rai lodged a complaint at Rongjeng PS that on April 5 at about 10:20 pm, he along with six others, were proceeding from Goalpara towards Nangalbibra in their vehicle (AS-01-AA-6114). On reaching Dobu Agalgre (WGH), around 5-6 unidentified armed miscreants in a car waylaid them and robbed them of their car and all their belongings after assaulting them.

Theft

On the night of April 2, unknown miscreants stole a conveyor belt valued around Rs.5130 belonging to M/s BSC C&C JV from Kynshi (WKH).

Dacoity

Aboni Pait lodged a complaint at Ranikor PS that on April 2 around 8 pm, a group of dacoits led by one Sengrak Ch. Sangma, went to a coal quarry near Nongkulang village (SWKH), demanded money from the supervisor and on his refusal, the miscreants attacked him with a machete. Following this, residents of the area attempted to rescue the victim and apprehend the miscreants, who on seeing the public fled from the place. However, while fleeing, two of the miscreants fell into a deep gorge and as a result, one of them died on the spot, while the other sustained injuries. The injured succumbed to his injuries on the way to CHC Ranikor.
