Nagaland ex-MP Scato Swu passes away

Kohima: Former Rajya Sabha Member and former President of Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN), an underground outfit, Scato Swu passed away on Monday at his residence at Satakha town under Zunheboto district.

According to sources on Tuesday, Swu (90) survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters. His funeral service would be held at Satakha Town on Wednesday at his residence.

The funeral would be attended by various Sumi organisations, former ‘comrades and freedom fighters’ and public leaders.

The 111 Battalion of BSF stationed at Satakha will give a 21-gun salute at the funeral programme.

Meanwhile, Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar has condoled the demise of Swu. In a message, Dr Kumar said Swu was a proud leader of Nagaland and represented the state for two terms in the Parliament.

He would be remembered for his contribution to the welfare of the people of the state and in his demise, the state had lost a tall and prominent leader and conveyed his condolences to the members of his family.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has also condoled the demise of Swu. (UNI)
