SHILLONG: The Election Department on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to the KHADC secretary seeking explanation within 24 hours on the appointment of PS Nongbri as the Standing Counsel of KHADC citing violation of model code of conduct.
It was on April 2 that the KHADC appointed Nongrbi as the Standing Counsel ) of the Council after senior advocate VGK Kynta stepped down from the post.
However, KHADC CEM Ardent Basaiawmoit recently said that the appointment was not aimed at targeting voters, but made in view of the emergency to attend to pending cases.
