One held for assaulting wife, police woman

A person, who is facing assault charge against his wife, assaulted a woman police officer when she met him to inquire into the matter which led to his arrest. According to police, on Wednesday, one Babul Dey was arrested from Polo, for assaulting his wife Bani Dey. Police said that while the woman police officer Celina Sangma of Pasteur Beat House was enquiring the case, the accused also assaulted her.

On April 7 around 4 am, unidentified miscreants in a Maruti car (Number not known) assaulted Hamida Hun Niang (16), handyman of a truck (ML-04A-8219) and snatched Rs. 1,300  at Mawryngkneng By-pass Road (EKH).

On April  6 evening, one Dilip Samaiang and Mus Talang assaulted Phaidin Muskut at Mukroh Pyllun village (WJH). As a result, the victim died on the spot. Investigation is on.

Body recovered

An unidentified body which was recovered at the international border, Hat Thymmai (Naya Bazar) under Pynursla PS (EKH), has been identified as that of Dilwar (16) of Muslimpara, Sylhet, Bangladesh. The body bore bullet injury on the head and the deceased is suspected to have been shot by unknown persons while he was attempting to commit theft inside Indian territory.

Theft

On April 7 around 2 am, unknown miscreants stole a wallet, cell phones and recharge cards valued around Rs.73,850 from the residence of Md. Harun Rashid at Phra Mer village (WJH).

Domestic violence

Rita Nongrum lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah PS that on April 7 around 11 pm, her husband namely Hubertson Kharlukhi under the influence of liquor assaulted her in their residence at Central Nongrim Hills, Shillong. The accused has been harassing her physically and mentally for the past five years. Police arrested the accused.
