SHILLONG: The All North East Indigenous Garo Law Promoters’ Association has reiterated its demand for removal of Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma and his brother and Cabinet Minister Zenith Sangma.

The Association on Monday submitted a reminder in this regard to Governor KK Paul.

The Association argued that the Chief Minister and his brother should be removed from the Cabinet on the ground that the Supreme Court had directed the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes to inquire into their tribal status, and added that both should be removed from their respective offices in order to pave way for a free and fair inquiry into the validity and authenticity of their caste certificates.

The Association also decried the move by the Meghalaya Government to summon the petitioners instead of calling both the ministers to prove their ST status.
