SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee of All Teacher’s Association of Meghalaya (JACATAM) has scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss the inability of the Government to call them for talks in view of the election model code of conduct.

“We have been verbally informed that the Government is not able to call the teachers for dialogue since the model of conduct is still enforced,” JACATAM chairman ED Nongsiang said here on Tuesday.

He however said that School Education and Literacy director Ambrose CH Marak has indicated that he is ready to meet the teachers to brief on the status of the proposed provincialisation of the services of the teacher’s in the State.

Earlier, JACATAM had given a deadline till April second week for the Government to invite them for discussion on the status of the proposed provincialisation.
