Hoping Stone was informed of decision to expel Fenela, claims HSPDP general secretary

SHILLONG: In a new twist to the “internal turmoil” within the HSPDP over the expulsion of Fenela L Nonglait for anti-party activities, party general secretary LG Nongsiej on Wednesday said that party president Hoping Stone Lyngdoh had been informed of the decision to expel Fenela.
“We had informed the party president before taking the decision to expel Fenela and he had agreed to the same,” Nongsiej said while speaking to newsmen on Wednesday.
“She (Nonglait) was expelled for her anti-party activities and this decision was taken collectively at the party’s executive meeting,” Nongsiej said, adding, “We don’t know why the president does not remember.”
Nongsiej also informed that party will hold its general meeting on April 19 at Kynshi to further dwell on the matter.

Nonglait who had contested the last district council election from Mawthadraishan constituency was expelled by the HSPDP West Khasi Hills Unit on April 9 after she was seen campaigning for UDP candidate Paul Lyngdoh during an election rally at Motphran on April 7.
Earlier, the HSPDP supremo had denied having any knowledge about the decision to expel Fenela.
“None of the party leaders from West Khasi Hills had consulted me before taking such a major decision. As a president, I should have been informed,” Lyngdoh had lamented while talking to newsmen a day after Fenela’s expulsion.
