Gadkari rubbishes purported tweet by him on Kiran Bedi
New Delhi: Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday trashed media reports, which quoted a purported tweet by him to claim that Kiran Bedi will be party’s chief ministerial candidate in the Delhi assembly polls. “The purported tweet is the handy work of a Parody account and has got nothing to do with me or my Twitter account or the BJP. The report generated from the Parody account may please be dismissed with the contempt such misuse of the social media deserves,” he said in a statement. The twitter handle from which the tweet was sent also says that it’s a Parody account. The tweet had said, “BJP ready for Delhi polls, Kiran Bedi will be CM candidate against Kejriwal”. (PTI)
Salim Khan launches Modi’s website in Urdu
Mumbai: Superstar Salman Khan’s father and noted scriptwriter Salim Khan on Wednesday launched the Urdu version of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s official website. Khan launched the website – www.narendramodi.in – from his residence in suburban Bandra, with BJP leader Shaina N C. “I share personal relation with Narendra Modiji, so we launched the website at my place, also I like Urdu language. I had given this suggestion of website to Narendra Modiji,” Khan said. “This is not BJP’s strategy for Muslim voters,” he said. Khan has been writing articles in newspapers and magazines and that is how he and Modi became friends. (PTI)
Muzaffaranagar riots commission hearing begins
Muzaffaranagar: A one-member judicial commission constituted by the UP government to probe the Muzaffarnagar communal violence began its hearing on Wednesday. The commission led by Justice Vishnu Sahai, retired judge of Allahabad High Court, will record statements of riots victims in its sittings till April 21, district administration sources said. The commission is likely to submit its report by May 15. Set up in September last year, immediately after the violence had spread to adjoining districts of Muzaffarnagar, the commission had earlier visited the riot-hit towns and villages in the western UP region. The commission, so far has received more than 700 affidavits in connection with the riots. At least 60 people died and thousands were displaced during the communal violence which hit the western part of the state including districts of Muzaffarnagar and Shamli, last year. (PTI)
Elderly couple murdered
Kota (Raj): Bodies of an elderly couple bearing serious head injuries have been found in Talwandi area here, police said on Wednesday. 60-year-old businessman Rajendra Agrawal and his wife Geeta, 55, were found dead in one of the rooms of their house. A case of theft and murder is being suspected, they said. Bodies were recovered from dining hall of the house with severe head injuries. Assailants were likely to have broken into the house late Monday night and attacked the duo, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kota, Rajan Dushyant said. Cupboards in the rooms were found unlocked and articles scattered on the floor, Dushyant said. “A case of theft and murder has been registered against unidentified assailants,” he said. A blood-stained wooden beam, which is likely to have been used for hitting the couple, was also recovered from a nearby vacant plot, he said. No arrest has been made so far and investigations are still on. The victims’ only son, Brajesh Agrawal, 24, lives in Gurgaon and the bodies will be sent for autopsy today after he arrives here, Dushyant added. (PTI)
