Tiruchirapalli: Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar ruled out the possibilities for the both the Congress and the BJP to secure the required number of seats in the ensuing the Lok Sabha elections so as to form the government at the centre.
Addressing an electioneering meeting in support of CPI (M) candidate for Tiruchirapalli, Lok Sabha constituency S Sridhar here on Tuesday night, Sarkar pointed out that the Congress secured only 27 per cent of votes while the BJP secured only 20 per cent of votes in 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
Both the Congress and the BJP together secured just 47 per cent of the votes.
That is , 53 per cent of voters did not favour either the Congress or the BJP, he added.
He further said the Congress is doing very badly in the last five years and it is humble clar that the Congress will not get 27 per cent votes this time, where as the BJP might get two to three per cent more votes this time and both the Congress and BJP will not get not even 50 per cent of the votes .
He said during the 2009 lok sabha elections, the non Congress and Non BJP parties had secured 53 per cent of votes and the left parties which is now attempting to to bring the non Congress and Non BJP parties to a common plat form to ensure a secular, democratic, government at the centre to check the price hike, to solve the unemployment problem, to prevent the farmers from committing suicide, to check the terrorism, to protect the interest of the working class.
He appealed to the people to reject Congress and to defeat the BJP and to support the left parties in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
