SHILLONG: Despite putting up a lowish total, St Nanak School defeated St Edmund’s School by 45 runs in a league match of the Inter School Cricket Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at the Cricket Ground, Polo, on Wednesday.
St Edmund’s won the toss and put their opponents in to bat first.
St Nanak were then all out for 119 in 19.3 overs, with Bikram Kumar making 25 from 21 balls. Anuhav Dutta took 3-33 in three overs.
In reply, the Edmundians were dismissed for just 74 in 19.4 overs. Ranjan Kishore broke their back with figures of 3-8 in 4.4 overs.
The second match of the day was a closer affair, with BK Bajoria School beating All Saints School by 12 runs.
BK Bajoria chose to bat first and posted a total of 136/6 in the full 25 overs.
Mukesh Kumar Ray top-scored with 41 runs, while Biprojeet Paul added 26.
Mohit Sharma claimed figures of 2-20 in three overs.
In reply, All Saints played well, but lost too many wickets in the end, concluding on 124/8 in 25 overs.
Mohit Sethi anchored the innings with 63 runs in a losing cause, while Adarsh Joshi took 3-14 in four overs.
