Body yet to be fished out from Umiam Lake

SHILLONG: The body of a victim in a drowning case at Umiam is yet to be fished out by the police.

In an unfortunate incident, a father lost his life at Umiam Lake while his three sons managed to escape the jaws of death. Police said that the incident happened on Saturday evening when Algious Thabah (35) of Mawiongrim, Shillong along with his three sons were fishing on a boat at Umiam Lake. The boat in which they ) were fishing capsized near MES Jackwell and Algious Thabah while his three sons managed to escape.

Police also ruled out the possibility of any foul play saying that his children knew how to swim while their father did not know how to swim and his three children made many attempts to save their father.

Police also said that necessary action have been taken to fish out the dead body.
