Three LAEF cadres nabbed in West Khasi Hills

NONGSTOIN: Acting on a tip off, Nongstoin Police on Saturday evening conducted a vehicle checking at Maweit area, around 17 km from Nongstoin and apprehended three LAEF cadres from a tourist vehicle (AS 18 C 3279) from Mawlait village.

The cadres were identified as Phijo R. Marak (28) from Rangolpara Aradonga in West Khasi Hills, Chang K Marak (19) from Bajengdoba in North Garo Hills and Thius G Momin (23) from Rongjeng in East Garo Hills.

No weapon was found in their possession except for an LAEF demand note.

Police informed that the cadres had been serving demand notes to the businessmen of the area for the past four days.

Interrogation of the arrested cadres was on even as police launched an operation to trace other cadres of the outfit who might be holed up in the area.
