Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has called upon the people for a concerted effort for expediting the developmental process in the state.
The Governor, who is on a two-day visit to West Kameng District in a public meeting at Bomdila, urged each and every individual to shoulder responsibilities, working as a team, official sources informed here today.
Calling the denizens of the district as the most important players in the implementation of the socioeconomic programmes, he yesterday advised the people to cooperate and with district administration and executing agencies, like BRO and work departments.
Expressing his concern on recent incidences of forest fires in different parts of the state, the Governor appealed to the gang Boreas’ (village heads), the elders of the society and youth to create awareness against it.
He said the Arunachal Pradesh is blessed with nature’s bounty, it should be preserved at all cost.
In his meeting with district heads of departments, the Governor advised them to work in coordination with each other.
Sharma also emphasised for integrating and pooling together of resources for providing health services to the people, especially the rural communities.
He suggested for pooling of resources from Army establishments stationed in the district for addressing the health care issues, sources said.
Reminding the Power Developers of social responsibilities, the Governor advised them to contribute in health and education sectors.
Reiterating his belief that police can positively engage them, the Governor advised the department officials to be their mentors and ensure that the youth develop their full potential.
District Collector A K Singh also gave a power point presentation on the overall developmental activities in various sectors in the district in the meeting.
The Governor later visited the National Research Centre for Yak (NRC-Y) at Dirang, 45 km from Bomdila.
Congratulating the scientists for the success in embryo transfer technology and in vitro fertilization, he exhorted them to carry out more works, so that local people benefit from it.
Sharma advised the scientists and officials of the NRC-Y to ensure that technical knowledge is transferred from the lab to the field.
Later in the evening, the Governor visited Thembang Fortified Village, 55 km from Bomdila, which has been lined up for a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage list, sources added. (UNI)
