EKH athletics meet begins in city

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills District Level Inter School Athletics Meet 2014 began on Tuesday at the Don Bosco Mini Stadium, Laitumkhrah.

Twenty-six schools are participating in the tournament.

East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal was the chief guest at the opening ceremony.

On the opening day, St Anthony’s HS School claimed three first place finishes in the boys events, while St Mary’s HS School did the same in the girls division.

First day’s results (boys):

Long jump U-16 – 1st Banlumlang Thangkhiew (St Anthony’s); 2nd Teibanskhem Khongkai (Christian Academy); 3rd Lamshai Snar (KC Sec School)

Shot put U-16 – 1st Tyrshain Chyrmang (H Elias HS School); 2nd Jasper Dkhar (KC Sec School); 3rd Meban Donbok Warjri (Hubert Memorial Sec School)

High jump above-16 – 1st Donkupar Mawkhon (St Anthony’s); 2nd Medashanbor Biam (KC Sec School); 3rd Simon Lapang (Sunnday Dale)

Discus U-16 – 1st Sengjrang D Shira (St Anthony’s); 2nd Hei-ni Wanlangki Bamon (H Elias Sec School); 3rd Edilbert Kharmalki (St Anthony’s)

First day’s results (girls):

Shot put above-16 – 1st Nisha M Syiem (St Mary’s); 2nd Aidaskhem Surong (H Elias Sec School); 3rd Ayim Nokchala (H Elias Sec School)

Javelin above-16 – 1st Jessica V Nongkhlaw (St Mary’s); 2nd Aidaskhem Surong (H Elias Sec School); 3rd Badahun Lyngdoh (Loreto Convent)

Long jump U-14 – 1st Da-I-Ne Ngihun Jyrwa (Loreto Convent); 2nd Wanoakisa Pyngrope (St Mary’s); 3rd Susilia Nongsiej (St Mary’s)

High jump U-16 – 1st Elina Nongrum (St Mary’s); 2nd Banri Khriam (Auxilium Sec School); 3rd Monalisa Mondal (KC Sec School)
