Inter-school cricket
SHILLONG: Laban Bengalee School and St Edmund’s won their respective matches by 16 and seven runs, respectively, in the Inter School Cricket Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at the Cricket Ground, Polo, on Tuesday.
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Laban Bengalee were bowled out for 136 in 24.5 overs by Laitumkhrah Bengalee School.
Asif Khan scored 42 runs, while Bishal Nath took 3-17 in three overs.
In reply, the Laitumkhrah school were dismissed for 120 in 24.5 overs, with Jacques D Shira scoring 31 runs. Bishal Pradhan bagged 4-24 in 4.5 overs.
In the second match, Queenie Secondary School fell just short in chasing Edmund’s total of 141/4 made in 25 overs.
This was St Edmund’s second victory in two days after beating Ruprekha Parishad School.
Biprodeep Das Gupta top-scored with 48 for the Edmundians, who won the toss. Rayner Lyngdoh also contributed a handy 33 runs. C Tobayius claimed 2-7 in one over.
In reply, Queenie Secondary were restricted to 134/9 in 25 overs. Wazat Ullah made 29, while Samrat Das finished with 3-32 in five overs.
