SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has slammed the UDP for making a political capital out of the current power crisis in the State.

“This is not the time to take political posturing. I would rather take the friends from the UDP to give suggestion to the Government on how to address this issue if they have any,” Sangma said while taking to newsmen on Tuesday.

He also said that the UDP had the privilege of giving the State government suggestions in the in the Assembly in writing. “We would be receptive to any positive suggestion,” Chief Minister said.

He also recalled that in 2007, the UDP had also tried to politicize the issue when the Government had taken a major decision to implement various important power projects for the overall interest of the State.

“The UDP had widely politicized in 2008 by wrongly projecting this decision in the eyes of the people. They have actually negated this decision when they were in the Government in 2008-2009,” Chief Minister said.

With the prevailing power crisis, Sangma said that it had now been proven that the decision taken by the previous Congress Government was in the interest of the State.
