Statewide uproar on illegal entry of outsiders through rail services
Itanagar: In view of statewide uproar on the illegal entry of outside people through the newly commissioned rail services in Arunachal Pradesh, the chief secretary, Ramesh Negi appealed both the railway authorities and state government machinery to make all out efforts to chalk out a strategy for effective Inner-Line-Permit (ILP) checking at railway stations.
Addressing a high level meeting attended by additional divisional railway manager, NFR, N D Rao, IGP (Admn) Arvind Deep, secretary,IPR, Dani Salu and other bureaucrats of the state here on Wednesday, the chief secretary called upon all the departments concerned to work in coordination as it is a new concept in the state and a learning experience for everyone, official sources informed on Thursday.
The land locked, Arunachal Pradesh, linked with railway connectivity on April 7 last, under PM’s special economic package.
He also directed the construction wing of the railway to take the proper steps for construction of boundary wall of the stations or erection of barbed wire, installation of CCTV camera and also to set up a hall for proper checking of ILP.
He also asked them to set up notices and hoardings at all railway stations, preferably in Assamese to bring awareness among the railway passengers on ILP.
The officers assured for necessary steps would be taken to check illegal passengers.
The visitors are basically tourists without any specific purpose, informed Papum Pare DC Ashok Kumar.
While, briefing on the security scenario, the SP informed
that security personnel have already been deployed at Gumto and Naharlagun railway stations since inception of railway services in the state.
The exit gate of Naharlagun railway station is also properly monitored and controlled. However, so far 28,000 passengers, who were mostly tourists, have been sent back, he informed.
One and half section besides the railway protection force has been deployed and 30 more personnel at Naharlagun and 10 at Gumto are further required, the SP further informed.
The process would begin from May 3 next and an internal review would also take place on May 8, the CS informed, sources added. (UNI)
