Kohima: Nagaland legislator Imtiwapang Aier today said everybody must uphold their own culture to preserve their identity and pointed out that preserving our rich culture does not mean we are shunning modernisation or religion. During the celebration of Moatsu festival at Sungratsu village under Mokokchung district, Dr Aier said modern Naga society which is dominated by the western culture is slowly losing identity.
He said in Naga society there is a large gap in the transition from traditional life style to modernisation. The vacuum that is left between the two civilisations must be filled up by the present generation if we are to free ourselves from the crisis that hampers the growth of our society today. Dr Aier said in order to uphold and preserve our identity, one must let culture, modernisation and religion go hand in hand and urged upon the youth to find a solution to make our society a better place to live in.
