SHILLONG: The Inter-District School U-16 cricket tournament, organised by the Meghalaya Cricket Association, will start on Friday at Polo Grounds.

Nine teams will compete in two groups in the 35-over a side tournament.

The MCA also said that it will introduce a scholarship for creditable performers that will provide a year’s school fees and book grants.

Players who perform well will be shortlisted for trials, coaching camps and exposure tours prior to the selection of a state team to take part in BCCI tournaments.

The first match will be between West Khasi Hills 2 and West Garo Hills.
