Extortion

Agnes Kharshiing, president (CSWO-A) lodged a complaint at Laban PS that Kwit Kyrsian and Faithstar Nongbri had filed a false defamation case against her and other women folk of Kynroh Nonglyer village and alleged that the village Sordar had extorted money from the villager on flimsy grounds.

Arrest

* Police arrested Reynold Malngiang (19), James Lyngshing (18 ) and Bishar Lyngshing (20) in connection with the theft in the house of one Fidalian Mylliemngap at Malki Pdeng Shnong.

* On May 4 at around 4.30 pm, acting on inputs, Police arrested one Rex K Sangma and seized 204 numbers of Spasmo proxyvon capsules from his possession at Police Bazar. His accomplice John managed to escape.

Assault

* On May 4 at around 7.30 pm unknown miscreants assaulted Filmy Star Marwein (25) at 5th Mile Upper Shillong. Victim sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong.

* Namita Kaur lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that she was subjected to mental, physical torture and a demand of Rs. 5 lakh from her husband Devendra Singh. On May 3, he assaulted her at Police Bazar, Shillong.

* Md. Azial Haque lodged a complaint at Tura PS that on April 27 at around 4 pm, Johnsing Marak and Walsing Marak stopped his vehicle (ML-08B-1986) at Balachanda village (WGH), warned him not to ply his vehicle in the area and demanded money from him. On his refusal, they assaulted him and snatched away cash Rs. 5,000 – and one cell phone from him. The victim sustained serious injuries and became unconscious.

Murder

On May 4 at around 6.30 pm, one Ajay Rongrin shot dead Anthony Amora (45) with an SBML gun at Nongjyndra village under Shallang PS (WKH). The accused is absconding.

Misappropriation of funds

MCS, BDO, Resubelpara, S.R Marak lodged a complaint (May 3) at Bajengdoba PS that one Mukhalisim Marak, Secy of Bolsong Sembargre VEC (NGH) has misappropriated an amount of Rs. 2,25,024/- under MGNREGS.

Theft

* On May 3, Police arrested one Md. Jhasijut Sheikh (30) of South Salmara, Dhubri, Assam, in connection with a theft case under Mendipathar PS.

* Pynskhemlang Kharlyngdoh lodged a complaint at Umsning OP that on May 2 at around 1.30 pm, his Bolero vehicle (ML-05H-8327) was found missing from Syadrit (RB).

* On May 2, unknown miscreants stole one motorcycle (ML-08C-8371) belonging to Manaranjan Mahanta from Lower Babupara (WGH).

* On the night of May 1, unknown miscreants stole one motorcycle (ML-08D-2198) belonging to Karmel M Marak from Hawakhana, Tura (WGH).

* On the night of May 1, unknown miscreants broke into the shop of Govinda Ch. Saha at Tura Bazar (WGH) and stole goods valued around Rs. 1,23,494.

* On May 1, unknown miscreants stole twenty-four batteries valued around Rs. 1,70,000 from a tower of M/s Bharti Infratel Ltd., at Pasyih village (WJH).

* On April 29 at around 2.30 pm, unknown miscreants stole one transformer belonging to MeECL from Lamyrsiang Distribution Sub-Station (EJH).

Illegal detention

On April 16 at around 9 am, members of FKJGP Ri War Mihngi Circle, KSU Pynursla Unit illegally detained nine non-tribal labourers of Nazirullah Khan, suspecting them to be Bangladeshi nationals at Pongtung Main Road (EKH). The labourers were travelling in a Dawki-bound Tata Sumo (ML-04B-8422). The non-tribals were Indians with valid EPICs, but since they did not possess any labour license, the FKJGP and KSU leaders, sent them back to Shillong without informing the Police.
