Review meet on integrated watershed management prog held

SHILLONG: The North Eastern Regional Review Meeting on Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) was held on May 6 and 7 in Shillong under the Chairmanship of Vandana K Jena, Secretary Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development in the presence of Sandeep Dave, Joint Secretary Department of Land Resources and P S Thangkhiew, Principal Secretary to the Meghalaya Government, Soil and Water Conservation Department.

The meeting was a review exercise on the performances of the implementation of Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) in the North Eastern region and was attended by officials from the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development and Chief Executive Officers of State Level Nodal Agencies of all North Eastern States.

Other speakers at the inaugural session included Sandeep Dave, Joint Secretary, Department of Land Resources and Vandana K. Jena, Secretary, Department of Land Resources who said that the North Eastern region is unique but that it has a lot of catching up to do to be at par with the rest of India.
